The Mercyhurst North East Saints women's basketball team battled the #12 Thunderwolves from Niagara County Community College in front of a packed Ligouri Fieldhouse. After the Saints came out of the gates to a 16-7 lead, NCCC, fueled by the 21-5 run in the second quarter, ran away with the game to take an 89-61 win.
The Saints were led by sophomore Shaquoia McCray. In her final home game of her Mercyhurst North East career, she finished the contest with 18 points and a Mercyhurst North East single-game record 30 rebounds. Also participating in her final home game, sophomore Nia Phillips added 18 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Freshman Cerenity Chambers tallied 13 points and 9 boards. NCCC, now 28-0, were led by Kenetria Redfern who finished with 26 points and 8 rebounds, as well as Shilah Parker who ended the contest with 16 points and 11 boards, while also dishing out 5 assists and three steals.
The Saints (13-10, 1-6) will close their regular season this Saturday as they travel to Genessee Community College.
