Saints Record 40th Win
The MNE Softball team traveled to Kalamazoo Valley Community College Saturday afternoon and came away with a sweep, winning game one 4-1, and game two 8-1.
In game one, MNE scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning. Asja Johnson and Sierra Reid sparked the MNE offense, both collecting two hits in the game. Asja Johnson included a triple in the win, and Alyssa Johnson added a double of her own.
Cheyenne Hindman dominated from within the circle, pitching a complete game, giving up one run on four hits, while striking out six.
In game two, the Saints were able to collect their 40th win on the season. The Saints used consistent hitting and scoring to put Kalamazoo away for the second straight game. Wilmari Guzman led the offense going 2 for 3 from the plate, with both hits being doubles. Guzman also collected two stolen bases in the game and scored a run.
Sierra Reid was also stellar, tossing a complete game, allowing one run, while striking out four.
The Saints are now 40-15 on the season and will host Cuyahoga Community College on Tuesday. Games are scheduled for 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
