Dan Poe enters his fifth season with the Saint’s Mens Soccer team here at Mercyhurst North East. A native to the D.C. area, Poe was heavily recruited out of high school and chose to become a member of the men’s soccer team at DI Clemson University. While at Clemson, Poe was a 4 year letterman, competed in the NCAA Final Four Men’s Soccer college cup in 2005, and was named ACC player of the week during his 2006 campaign. Upon graduation, Poe had trials with Real MD of the USL and with the Baltimore Blast of the MISL.
Poe transitioned into coach in 2009 and has been the assistant women’s soccer coach with St.Mary’s College, assistant coach of the men’s soccer team at Binghamton University, had a short stint coaching within the New York Red Bulls organization, and most recently was the assistant women’s soccer coach at Penn State Behrend. He also is a youth technical director for the Erie Admirals. Poe currently holds his United Soccer Coaches (formally the NSCAA) Premier coaching diploma as well as certificates in Director of club coaching.
Poe currently resides in Erie, PA with his wife Maggie and their two daughters Olenna and Aria. About his men’s program Poe says, “Our goal is to bring players in who are looking to compete and progress in a professional and dedicated environment. My staff and I want to help our players reach their goals of competing at the next level, whether that be on the soccer pitch or in the classroom.”
