Playing her final regular season home game at Vineyard Field, sophomore Lei Guthrie made it a memorable one.

Guthrie homered twice and finished with eight RBIs to go along with a winning performance in the circle to lead the Saints past the Challengers.

In the first inning, Guthrie launched a three run homer to center to give the Saints the lead. In the next inning, she hit a grand slam to left to give the Saints a big lead.

Hannah Davis and Lea Munnell joined Guthrie with a three hit game as the Saints had 14 hits in total.

In the circle, Guthrie went all seven innings, striking out 11 to earn the win.

The Saints defense allowed five errors and four unearned runs to let the game slip away against Cuyahoga on Monday afternoon.

Mercyhurst fell behind early before closing the gap to 3-2 in the fifth inning. Then things went bad as the Saints committed 3 errors in the inning alone to put themselves in a hole.

Riplee Burkhart and Alyssa Johnston led the Saints with three hits each. Burkhart added a home run to left, her first of the season.

Lea Munnell, Lei Guthrie, and Rachel Shaheen all had two hits for the Saints in defeat. Tori Harding hit a long homer as well for the Saints.

Mercyhurst falls to 24-15 after the loss.
