Saints Split with Cuyahoga

Cuyahoga won game two as the Saints and Challengers split a double header in non conference action.

Tri C took an early lead, and while the Saints battled back several times, the Challengers would keep adding runs late.

Lea Munnell, Riplee Burkhart, Lei Guthrie, and Anna Swartout all had two hits to lead the Saints. Guthrie homered to left center as part of the Saints attack.

The Saints are now 19-14 on the season.

The Saints played a good game against a strong Cuyahoga squad Thursday afternoon to win the first game of a double header.

Mercyhurst trailed 2-0 into the third inning when Anna Swartout singled and advanved to third on a bunt by Rachel Shaheen. Lea Munnell then drove home a run and Shaheen then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

In the fourth, Tori Harding tripled to start the inning before Swartout doubled and scored on a bloop by Shaheen. Hannah Davis would score the last run for the Saints in the seventh inning.

Lei Guthrie pitched a great game for the Saints, going all seven innings and allowing just seven hits while striking out seven.

Swartout led the Saints with three hits.
