After a rough beginning to the season, the MNE Men's Saints were able to get wins in both of their matches from last week, outscoring their opponents 12-2 in two games. On Tuesday, September 5th, the Saints traveled to Lorain CC. This would be the second meeting between the two teams this season, with Lorain getting the better of the Saints during the first match, when they beat North East 2-1 in the Lakeland CC tournament.
This time around, however, the Saints would get the victory, defeating Lorain 3-2. After an own goal put the Saints up 1-0 early in the first half, #9 Adolphe Yerebe and #4, Matt Jackson would add goals to put the score at 3-0 during half time. Lorain would get 2 goals back in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Saints would get their 3rd victory of the season.
Their 2nd game of the week saw the Saints' host Westmoreland CC for Homecoming weekend. The game kicked off at 230 pm, Saturday, September 29th, in front of a homecoming crowd of Mercyhurst North East supporters, friends, and family. The Saints would get their 4th win in outstanding fashion, putting 9 past the Westmoreland goalkeeper. Fuller, May, Yerebe, and Jackson would all net two goals apiece, with freshman #14, Alex Shaffer, getting his first goal of the season off of an assist from #16, Jake Bouvier, his first of the season as well. The Saints next game will be a home double header with the women's team as they will host Niagara CC on Saturday, October 6th.
