Brown and Cristinzio Tabbed All Region, Miccio Coach of the Year

Region III

 

NORTH EAST, PA – All-Region III selections and awards have been named and published. The Saints had three members of its program receive recognition.

 

Sophomore defender Donavan Brown was named All-Region III 1st Team. Brown was one of only four defensemen which were named to the 1st team for his outstanding play at Defense. "Donavan has done so much for this program with his play and leadership. All he cared about was helping his teammates, getting better, and putting this team on the map. He was able to accomplish all of those goals and more. I am extremely grateful to have coached such a special young man." Stated Coach Miccio. Brown who was also named Mercyhurst North East Co-Male Athlete of the year will take a closet full of trophies and accolades as he continues his lacrosse at NCAA Division I Jacksonville University.

 

Freshman defender Michael Cristinzio was named Region III Honorable Mention. Cristinzio was in the top ten statistically in the country in both Groundballs and Caused Turnovers. "Mike is a versatile defender with a lot of size. He was able to accomplish a lot and we plugged him in all over the field. He is poised to have a huge sophomore campaign in regards to his leadership." State Coach Miccio.

 

Coach Eric Miccio was named the Region III Coach Of The Year. The Saints went 0-12 in his first season as the coach and the Saints first season of competition in four years. The Saints finished this past regular season with a 7-6 record and a Region III record of 5-5. The Saints qualified for the Region III tournament. "It's all about the young men we have here. I am fortunate enough to coach the game I love and have an opportunity try to put our players in spots to be successful on and off the field. I have a great assistant coach who shares the same passion and values that I do. This award is for all of their commitment and dedication. We made some huge steps as a program this season and we have to continue taking more steps" Stated Coach Miccio.
