NORTH EAST, PA – Mercyhurst North East men's lacrosse head coach Eric Miccio announced the team's 2017 schedule. Coming into the program's first season after a three-year hiatus, the Saints' slate will feature thirteen games, including five home dates. The Saints, will face three teams during the non-region slate, and ten Region III foes, two of which were in the national tournament last season.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play such a challenging region and non-region schedule. Overall, we play many great teams and three that will be ranked in the pre-season top five." Miccio commented. "We will really be challenged in our first season and I am excited to see how our players respond."
The new era for the Saints begins in Syracuse, NY on Wednesday, March 1st at 4pm, when the Saints will visit David W. Murphy Field to face national power Onondaga Lazers. The Lazers won seven national championships in a row until last season when that streak was snapped in overtime by a score of 12-13 by the Genesee Cougars.
The schedule then takes the Saints on the road twice for two non-region tilts during their spring break. The Saints head to Baltimore, MD and take on another national power in the Essex Golden Knights, which posted a sixteen-win season in 2016 and made a trip to the final four. That game will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 3pm. The Saints will then travel to Dover, DE for a mid-week afternoon game at 1pm on Wednesday March 8th against the Delaware Tech Hawks. That game will be held on the campus of Wesley College.
Mercyhurst North East will have a two week period with no contests before heading to the Southern-Tier region of New York State for back-to-back Region III tilts on Saturday March 25th at the Tompkins Panthers of Cortland, NY. and on Sunday March 26th at the Broome Hornets of Binghamton, NY. The tilt against Tompkins is slated in for 2pm, and the game time against the Hornets is to be determined.
Wednesday March 29th at 4pm the Saints will host its first home game. The 2016 defending NJCAA National Champion Genesee Cougars come to town. This is a Region III and WNYAC contest.
Capping off five games in nine days the Saints will travel for another back-to-back weekend in upstate New York. The Saints will travel to Utica, NY to face the Mohawk Valley Hawks on Saturday April 1st with a start time to be determined. The Saints will then travel down I-90 East to take on the Vikings of Hudson Valley in Albany, NY. on Sunday April 2nd with a noon start time.
The Saints will then host four games on the campus of Mercyhurst North East University. The Finger Lakes Lakers come to town from Canandaigua, NY for a 1pm game on Sunday April 9th. WNYAC and Region III opponent Monroe Tribunes come to town from Rochester, NY for a 4pm match on Wednesday April 12th. First Year NJCAA program Ancilla College of Indiana comes to town for the "Lace up with Lax" game to be held at 3pm Saturday, April 15th.
The Saints will wrap up their home schedule with a Region III opponent in the Jefferson Cannoneers on Saturday April 22nd at 2pm. The Saints will conclude their regular season the next day on Sunday, April 23rd in Herkimer, NY against the Herkimer Generals. That game is scheduled for a start time of 2:30pm.
The top six region teams will then make the Region III playoffs with the two last teams standing will become Region III champions and receive automatic-bids to the national tournament.
